A Family Session Surprise

September 16, 2015

There's a first time for everything, and I do love new experiences! I frequent a park on Fort Bragg for family sessions - this park is conveniently sized, provides a lot of shade, contains a play area, a beautiful lake, a fishing dock, and several corners with new scenery. As I drove up to meet my clients at our location, I noticed that there were several balloons set up, and a beautiful table for two waiting on the dock. I did not see a couple on that dock, so I assumed that something would be happening shortly.

About halfway through this family session, I see a lovely couple walk up - he in uniform; she in a stunning skirt/top combo. They arrive to the foot of the dock, and I see this man reveal that he is wearing a suit underneath his military uniform. A suit! After a quick change of attire, they walk up the dock together, hand-in-hand and sit down at the table.

I find that two of their friends are walking away, so I flag them down to inquire about what was happening.

Me: "This looks so sweet! What's going on?"

Friends (with huge smiles on their faces): "They are celebrating their 4th anniversary! The wife is completely surprised by this. She had no idea this was happening."

Me (trying not to reveal exactly how gushy I'm feeling about this whole thing): "Would they like a picture?"

Friends: "Absolutely!"

I walked up, feeling a little like a creeper, to say congratulations and ask to take hubby&wife's photos. They excitedly agreed, and I could not be more thankful!

Aren't they gorgeous?!

Happy couple, if you are reading this, thank you so much for allowing me to snap those photos. I would love to send you a couple of prints, if you'll allow me!
