With the launch of my brand-spanking-new business, I have done a lot of thinking. I have asked myself many questions for reflection, but one question keeps coming to mind: What truly makes an appealing photograph?
I began to run through a list of “technical” things that could answer my question - composition, accurate auto-focus settings, appropriately deciding the depth-of-field for the situation. While each of these factors are essential to constructing a beautiful photo, I realized that there was really only one thing that can make or break an image: light.
While shot composition, selective focus, depth-of-field, and appropriate shutter speed are necessary to capture an image, the lighting sets the mood. It relays a message. What makes the following images beautiful? Light.
So, you want to capture stunning images? This may be as simple as understanding light.
