Welcome to the world, Tripper William!
Can I just say that this precious little man has some awesome parents? My husband and I affectionately refer to Dan and Ashley as our "life partners." When we moved to the Fayetteville, NC area, Dan and Ashley became our church-hunting, football-watching, food-loving friends. A few months after meeting them, Ashley announced that they were expecting! Yay!
Originally, Dan was going to be unable to attend the birth of baby Tripp due to some unfortunate Army scheduling. When Ashley heard this news, she hoped to give her husband the ability to experience Tripp's birth - even if he couldn't physically be there. I knew that I wanted to experience another birth photography session, so I offered to photograph Tripper's birth ... and she accepted!
Fortunately, Dan ended up being able to attend Tripper's birth. Dan and Ashley welcomed me into the L&D room to photo-document this beautiful event, and I couldn't be more thankful.
When I arrived, Ashley was working through some intense labor, but she was still able to chat and laugh with me in between contractions. Her nurse made some suggestions about ways to help labor progress, and Ashley obediently obliged!
Above, you can see Dan keeping an eye on Tripper's heart rhythms.
One thing that I learned during this session was that for the laboring mama, ice chips are life. Hardly a moment passed without Ashley reaching for these ice cubes to sooth her crazy heartburn.
Below is a photo of Ashley and her sweet nurse, Caitlin. Caitlin also attends the church that we attend - seeing Caitlin was quite the coincidence!
What felt like a short time later, Caitlin delivered some great news: it was time to push! Ashley would soon meet her handsome baby boy.
Below you can see Ashley's mom, Beth, to her right. Beth is an OB nurse of 29 years, and she was so supportive to everyone involved.
After only 45 minutes of pushing, Ashley welcomed Tripper William into the world! Happy Birthday, little man!
Dan seemed like he was beside himself with pride as he carried his new baby boy outside to meet Ashley's dad.
And just look at all of Tripper's hair!
It was a real honor to photo-document the birth of baby Tripper, and I am so grateful to Dan and Ashley for giving me the opportunity! Be on the lookout for some family photos as Tripper grows!
